About the Organisation-fondly called Hunnar Shala

Jodia; an old, busy and rich port town of pre-independence time on the edge of Jamnagar District, is a small and backward taluka centre where late Rambhaben Ganatra (Faiba) had started this Institute in 1950. She was a saint like true Gandhian lady and selected this backward rural area and started various activities for upliftment of women and children by collecting funds of just Rs. 875 from Jodia village itself.
The campus of our Institute is spread over an area of about one lakh sq. feet of land consisting of different faculties in more than 60,000 sq. feet of constructed property. The campus buildings were badly affected during the devastating earthquake in 2001. We collected donations of Rs. 76,74,822 from various persons and institutes; including the Netherlands government, Shri Gayatri Trust – Haridwar, Pujaya Ranchhoddasji Bapu Ashram (Rajkot), Jamnagar Factory Owners’Association, Shri Khodidasbhai Dhamecha (UK), Shri Yusufbhai A. Nagani of Bombay, Shri Baba Sheth (Mirani) etc. and renovated and strengthened the entire campus within just four months.
Our Institute runs many activities at minimal costs so that the rural and economically challenged families can take advantage thereof.
